AUBURN, Maine – July 29, 2011 – Walmart (NYSE: WMT) and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center announce Auburn’s newest location for basic health care services – “The Clinic at Walmart” operated by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. This convenient care clinic will open Aug. 1, 2011 at 8 a.m. inside the Walmart located at 100 Mount Auburn Avenue in Auburn.  

To celebrate the opening, St. Mary’s will hold free health screenings.  On Tuesday, Aug. 2 from noon to 4 p.m., stop by for a free sun damage analysis done by the professionals from our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. On Wednesday, Aug. 3 from noon to 4 p.m., St. Mary’s Prevention and Wellness’ Take Charge! program will  offer screenings that include the following:   

  • A lipid profile, measuring your total cholesterol and good cholesterol (HDL)
  • Height & weight measurements
  • Blood pressure
  • Physical activity level
  • Body mass index 

A health professional will discuss your results with you, offering health education accordingly.  Screenings usually take about 15 minutes per person.  

The clinic will provide convenient, affordable access to basic health care services, seven days a week, with no appointment necessary. The walk-in health clinic is the first owned and operated by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in a Walmart. The clinic will be open for walk-in care weekdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For busy customers who need care, especially after working hours or on weekends, the clinic will treat common health ailments and offer routine services. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acne
  • Bladder infections
  • Blood sugar testing
  • Camp and school physicals
  • Cholesterol screening
  • Common vaccinations
  • Ear ache
  • Flu
  • Insect bites and stings
  • Minor wounds
  • Sinus infections
  • Upper respiratory infections
  • Wart removal
